The mission of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) is to ensure that health professionals, patients and their care providers, governments, and the public world-wide have the educational and research resources that are essential in understanding, diagnosing, and treating persons with epilepsy. Established in 1909, ILAE is one of the oldest international neurology organizations currently consisting of 128 National Chapters and a global membership of nealry 30,000 health professionals.
The ILAE Education Manager will be responsible for managing and implementing the ILAE’s educational and career development portfolio including live, online, and enduring accredited and non-accredited activities. This is a full-time, remote position reporting to the Executive Director. Although the position is fully work from home, to comply with tax and employment regulations the successful candidate will need to be legally a resident in either the USA, UK, or Republic of Ireland.
Job Requirements/Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education, business, or related discipline
Three to five years’ experience implementing synchronous and asynchronous adult educational programs in an academic, corporate, healthcare, or non-profit setting
Knowledge of ACCME accreditation requirements
Demonstrated proficiency in prioritizing, organization, time management, and project management with strong attention to detail
Capacity to handle multiple priorities and deadlines, functioning well autonomously and as a team member
Excellent verbal and written English and strong interpersonal communications skills.
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies across multiple time zones and a diverse community
Strong computer skills, including learning management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe with demonstrated aptitude for quickly and efficiently learning and embracing new software
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to four times in a year.
Multilingual fluency/literacy would be a plus
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordination and development support to ILAE’s Educational Portfolio
Oversee the development and execution of existing ILAE Academy courses and programs, evaluating and recommending updates as needed
Assist with configuration, implementation, and content management for the ILAE Academy’s learning management system (Totara).
Liaise with the program organizers for the ILAE Schools and provide, as needed, support with budget submission, endorsement processes, promotion, and financial reporting
Liaise with Regional Chairs/Education focal points to ensure effective coordination between central and regional education programs
Ensure all educational programs adhere to established deadlines, scope, and organizational policies
Work closely with the communications team on marketing/promotion initiatives for education activities to ensure accurate and effective promotion and dissemination to all relevant audiences
Work to ensure that programs meet revenue and expense goals. Monitor Academy payment reports/reconciliation
Update as needed and maintain the comprehensive, cross organizational ILAE Education Portfolio and (in conjunction with the Communication Team) the corresponding ILAE web pages
Provide development support for new educational initiatives and manage the implementation of these programs in collaboration with the Education Council and related committees and staff
Stay current with best practices and emerging trends for synchronous and asynchronous adult learning, learning technology and other relevant areas, implementing innovative techniques where possible to serve the needs of members
Continuing Medical Education (CME)
Responsible for development and oversight of the system for meeting ACCME accreditation requirements of the ILAE Joint Provider including overall program evaluation, policies, procedures and required documentation for courses, enduring materials, and online CME
Support to the Education Council
Contribute meaningfully to strategic planning efforts, conceptualization and implementation of long-term goals, objectives, and metrics to ensure successful outcomes in alignment with the ILAE strategic plan
Provide administrative support for assigned education-related committees and taskforces and attend education-related committee meetings
Assist with the development of budgets and routinely monitors budgets of assigned programs
Support the Education Council in developing and maintaining external partnerships and effective partnership programs
Fellowships, Mentorship and Career Development Programs
Contribute meaningfully to strategic planning efforts, conceptualization and implementation of long-term goals, objectives, and metrics to ensure successful outcomes in alignment with the ILAE strategic plan
Provide administrative support for the Career Development Commission and taskforces and attend education-related meetings
Assist with the development of budgets and routinely monitors budgets of assigned programs
Congress Related Educational Programs
Provide coordination and administrative support for the ILAE Congress Teaching Program, Leadership Program and Mentor-Mentee program, working closely with the Congress Team
Support the relevant Faculties with the development of the content and materials for the above-mentioned congress related educational programs including their evaluation and continual improvement
Other relevant duties as agreed in discussion with supervisor
