Job Overview:
The Data and Research Senior Specialist plays a crucial role in managing, analyzing, and interpreting IAAP's data to support strategic decision-making across all departments and leadership levels. This position is responsible for interpreting and manipulating existing data, collecting new data, conducting in-depth analysis, and presenting key findings to stakeholders. The position requires a strong talent in data management, analysis, and visualization, with excellent attention to detail and collaborative skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Management and Curation
Curate, review, and collate existing IAAP data, including member and community information
Develop and implement strategies for collecting new data and research
Maintain and organize data across various technology systems and databases
Data Analysis and Interpretation
Conduct comprehensive analysis of IAAP data to identify trends, patterns, and insights
Prepare key findings, indicators, and interpretations of how data supports or impacts IAAP's goals and mission
Develop data-driven recommendations to inform organizational strategy and decision-making
Reporting and Visualization
Create clear, concise, and visually appealing presentations of data findings
Develop regular reports and dashboards for various stakeholders across the organization
Translate complex data into easily understandable insights for non-technical audiences
Cross-departmental Collaboration
Work closely with all departments to understand their data analysis needs and support their work
Collaborate on data-driven projects to inform future strategies and initiatives
Provide guidance and support to colleagues on data-related matters
Data Collection and Survey Management
Assist in designing and implementing data collection methods, including surveys and other research tools
Manage and optimize the use of Qualtrics and other data collection tools for data collection and survey administration
Ensure data integrity and quality throughout the collection and analysis process
Continuous Improvement
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in data management and analysis
Recommend and implement improvements to data processes and systems
Identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive organizational success
Qualifications:
Education and training in data science, statistics, business analytics, or similar field required, or a combination of the equivalent in specific work-related experience and commensurate work history.
Five to seven years of experience in data analysis, research, and management
Requires intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, expert level proficiency in Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
Proven ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
Experience in managing and manipulating large datasets
Ability for up to 5% domestic travel.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from diverse groups of individuals (internal team members, external customers and vendors, board members, )
