340B Health has an immediate opening for a Legal Counsel position at our growing non-profit health care trade association. This position reports directly to the Vice President, Legal and Policy Counsel.
The individual will assist with regulatory, legal, and legislative advocacy in the area of health policy and drug pricing, especially relating to the federal 340B discount drug program. They will assist with drafting of regulatory, legal, and legislative advocacy materials, educate member hospitals on compliance and pharmacy operations, and provide critical input on policy developments.
Primary Responsibilities:
Serve as a staff lead on litigation pertaining to 340B, including monitoring lawsuits, reviewing filings, and updating staff and members on filings and decisions
Work directly with outside counsel on 340B Health filings, particularly amicus briefs, including assisting with fact and legal theory development and review
Collaborate with other staff, hospital members, and others to develop formal policy positions and to draft comments and letters to federal agencies
Serve as staff lead on designated issues as assigned, including maintaining a comprehensive understanding and ensuring colleagues are informed of developments
Work with members on an individual basis to help them understand and respond to policy changes and other program developments
Monitor and update members on state legislation and other state developments and trends impacting 340B, and assist members with understanding and advocating on state-specific issues
Prepare and deliver presentations at conferences, webinars, regional roundtables, and other events
Participate in and contribute to 340B Coalition conference program development
Education and Experience:
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
At least three years of legal experience
Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of health care, pharmaceutical policy, Medicare, Medicaid, and hospital issues a plus
Litigation, administrative appeals, or law firm experience a plus
Demonstrated writing and communication skills
Proven attention to detail and diligence around legal and legislative advocacy issues
Other Pertinent Information:
Staff are currently required to work in the office a minimum of 3 days per week, Monday – Wednesday, and other days as needed
