The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) is a non-profit, professional society of individual members serving the maritime and offshore industries and their suppliers. The Director of Finance will manage the accounting functions of the office and work with the respective member committees and external vendors to support the overall financial management and administrative functions of the association.
Primary responsibilities include:
Proficiency in all aspects of accounting regulations, policies, and procedures under GAAP.
Manage accounts payable/accounts receivable and reporting transactions.
Manage general ledger functions and reconciliations.
Manage, review, and analyze quarterly financial statements and year-end close.
Prepare cash flow analysis.
Manage the annual audit and tax filings with auditors, committee members, leadership, and staff.
Create and maintain policies, procedures and internal controls.
Create monthly reports as needed.
Prepare and actively manage annual budget and processes.
Oversee multiple financial accounts including scholarships, operating, investment, and endowment.
Work with PEO to manage payroll and benefits.
Manage work of Staff Accountant.
Staff liaison to Finance, Investment, Pension, and Audit Committees.
Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA preferred
Knowledge of US GAAP
3-5 years of relevant non-profit accounting experience
Experience preparing, monitoring, and reporting on annual budgets
Experience with managing annual audits or reviews
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with QuickBooks, Bill.com, and NetForum preferred
Excellent customer service skills
Experience working with Chapters or Sections in an association preferred
