Role Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Exhibit and Sponsor Sales Manager to join our team at SWANA. As the Sales Manager, you will play a crucial role in driving growth, expanding our conference exhibit & sponsorships and fostering strategic partnerships within the industry. Your primary focus will be on soliciting current exhibitors and sponsors, as well as attracting new companies that offer products and services to the public sector solid waste and recycling organizations throughout the United States and Canada.
Responsibilities:
Exhibitor and Sponsor Acquisition: Identify and target potential exhibitors and sponsors within the solid waste and recycling industry, including waste management companies, equipment manufacturers, consulting firms, technology providers, and related organizations.
Business Development: Cultivate and nurture relationships with existing and potential exhibitors and sponsors, focusing on public sector waste management and recycling solutions.
Sales Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve revenue targets and enhance the association's market presence.
Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to identify new opportunities and maintain a competitive edge.
Proposal Creation: Prepare persuasive proposals and presentations tailored to the needs of potential sponsors and partners.
Networking: Attend industry events, conferences, and trade shows to expand the association's network and showcase its value proposition.
Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal teams, including marketing, communications, and operations, to ensure seamless execution of sales initiatives.
Reporting: Provide regular sales reports and performance analysis to the management team, highlighting achievements, challenges, and actionable insights.
Negotiation: Lead contract negotiations with potential exhibitor and sponsors, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements are reached.
Relationship Management: Foster long-term relationships with members, exhibitors and sponsors to maximize retention, satisfaction, and referrals.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
Proven track record of success in B2B sales, association tradeshow sales and/or solid waste industry sales preferred.
Strong understanding of the waste management and recycling sector, including knowledge of industry players, products, and services.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational skills for managing sales leads, contract administration and contract fulfillment.
Strategic thinker with the ability to identify and capitalize on market opportunities.
Self-motivated and driven to achieve and exceed sales targets.
Willingness to travel to industry events and client locations as needed.
SWANA is currently operating in a mostly remote capacity, but this position is based in the Washington DC area and candidates must be based in the area to be considered for this role.
