Working with the Customized Member Services Assistant Vice President, the Content Director will identify messaging priorities, and develop integrated content campaigns that drive engagement; manage the aggregation of content; identify and assign member contributing writers; researching, developing, and composing articles; with deep experience copyediting and proofreading existing short and long form content and create new content highlighting emerging trends for social media and online platforms.. The Content Director manages and mentors a team of content managers who write, edit, proofread, and copyedit content for various NAHB Council products and services and who coordinate, schedule and promote all aspects of production to meet deadlines.
The best candidate is a strong writer who loves to bring content to life and will have exceptional writing, editing, and interpersonal skills and the ability to design, organize and structure online content for optimal usability. They will be highly organized, detailed, efficient, and committed to producing high quality results. Experience collaborating with stakeholders and managing volunteer editorial committees. Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
Require a minimum of 5 years of writing and editing experience that demonstrates progressive achievement levels. The background should include traditional journalism, web writing, social media, and project management. Must have a firm grounding in website technologies and experience formulating and executing online content strategies. Experience in MagnetMail and the real estate/housing industry is a plus—Bachelor’s degree, preferably in English, journalism, public affairs, or comparable work experience.
