Social Media & Communications Coordinator – PT Remote/Hybrid
The American Translators Association is seeking a creative and passionate part-time social media and communications coordinator with experience leading social media and marketing platforms. Under the direction of the ATA Communications Director, you will serve as staff lead directing and managing ATA’s overall social media presence and strategy to enhance communication and business goals, present a unified and consistent presence in our social space while following the ATA marketing and communications principles.
Position Summary
Highly visible and connected role, collaborating regularly with staff, volunteers, and partners to creatively position the American Translators Association (ATA) via its social media channels. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of social media channels and reporting on social media engagement. This is a remote position, with some flexibility in hours and days, approximately 15 hours per week. The ideal candidate for this position has proficiency in social media platforms as well as experience with digital editing, reporting on engagement, and collaborating with a team.
Primary Functions and Responsibilities:
Communicate with staff and volunteers to collect information for the social media content plan
Engage with volunteer committee leadership on content and member engagement
Draft and enter ATA social media content for core channels (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest)
Revise content based on feedback from dedicated staff and volunteers
Engage in active listening, measuring, and monthly reporting on social media engagement
Skills and Experience Required
Use of social media platforms in a professional setting (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube)
Use of social media management and measurement tools (ex: HootSuite, Sprout, Tweet Deck, Twitter Analytics, Meta Business Suite, etc.)
Experience with graphic design platforms (Canva, Piktochart)
Experience with media monitoring and distribution platforms (PR Newswire) preferred but not required
Experience with basic video editing platforms (YouTube, iMovie) preferred but not required
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Proficiency with G Suite tools (Google Docs, Google Alerts, Google Forms)
Experience working with volunteer members
Excellent writing and communication skills in English (bilingualism a plus)
Ability to learn new systems and technology
Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment
