The Director, Event Programming will lead content and experience development for AHLA signature events. This role is instrumental in establishing our strategy, development, and execution for our speakers, conversations, workshops and other programming for our live virtual events. Contributing ideas, identifying talent, and developing our event content is at the center of this role. This role reports directly to the Vice President, Conference & Events and closely collaborates with key staff within the association to reach our ultimate goal, in bringing our virtual and in-person events to life.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with conferences & events department head and/or corresponding staff liaisons to develop programs including educational content and speaker selection
Lead research on relevant content/topic areas for each event
Curate and present content and speakers for consideration
Craft program into storyline & attendee experience, develop event scripting with Communications team
Stay current on industry-related information including:
Trends in key subject areas such as technology, innovation, ESG, DE&I
Key political/legislative issues
US and international affairs
AHLA-lead campaigns
Other special projects and duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree
Five-seven years relevant experience; or a combination of education and experience
Skills and Attributes:
Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to write and edit clear, engaging, and relevant content
Self-motivated individual who is also a team player with a high level of professionalism and emotional intelligence
Detail-oriented individual with exceptional organizational and time management skills
Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment
Experienced computer and software knowledge, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Other:
Position located in Washington, DC area
Ability to travel
Ability to lift 35 pounds
Hybrid position 3 days in office. (Mon-Wed or Tue-Thurs.)
