The American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) is seeking an Accounting Coordinator to be responsible for the application of accounting principles and practices to a variety of accounting transactions in all aspects of the accounting function. These responsibilities will include but are not limited to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Account Reconciliations, General Ledger, Month- or Year-end close functions and assisting with other financial reporting processes.
Based on the duties described below, this is a part-time, non-exempt, fully remote position.
This position reports to the Vice President, Finance & Accounting
Key Responsibilities: • Responsible for administering Accounts Payable functions to include preparation of payment requests, invoices, processing vendor payments, and ACH payments weekly or as needed. • Responsible for invoicing and recording entries for Corporate Partners, Sponsorships, and miscellaneous activities for the Corporate Relations Team. E • Assist the Vice President of Finance with the company credit card reconciliation process. (i.e., BOA Credit Card Reconciliation - Review and reports are submitted, receipts, business reason and GL code provided for all charges on the statements each month.) • Assist in preparing and entering journal entries to record transactions. Prepare summaries and reports, where necessary. • Responsible for auditing the month end close folder to ensure all journal entries have proper supporting documentation and authorization. • Assist with the annual audit process. Provide support in dealing with auditors. • Serve as second level review of bi-weekly payroll, including 401(k) transactions. • Prepare, file and distribute 1099 reports at year-end. • Assist the Vice President of Finance in documenting SOPs for key accounting functions. • Responsible for record retention management for the Association. • Other projects as assigned.
Education – Associates degree or technical certifications with major course work in accounting or related field. Knowledge – Knowledge of GAAP and FASB requirements as they apply to nonprofit associations preferred. Work Experience – 2-3 years accounting experience including payroll and accounts payable. Technical Skills – High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel Conditions – Possible travel to annual symposium
