Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, is an educational nonprofit and the largest single major honor society accredited by the Association of College Honor Societies. With chapters in over 1200 universities, including 35 outside the US 50 states, Psi Chi has grown to over 800,000 members over nine decades. The organization supports psychology undergraduate students, graduate students, alumni, and faculty. Joining our small staff of 14 people provides a Director of Membership Services with the opportunity to have a large impact across the US and globally.
The Director of Membership Services (DoMS) is responsible for overseeing Psi Chi’s membership services in order to increase the number of members inducted annually at over 1200 universities in the US, and 35 outside the US 50 states. Doing so involves creating a value proposition for members and assisting all stakeholders with articulating the vision and mission of Psi Chi. Membership services include support for student members, alumni members (current undergraduate and graduate students, and university faculty), and Faculty Advisors of chapters, as well as awards, grants, scholarships, and merchandise.
The DoMS encourages and contributes to team efforts in order to communicate job expectations, accomplish departmental goals, coordinate activities within and between departments, follow policies and procedures, and contribute to carrying out Psi Chi's strategic plan.
The DoMS will cross-train on the key tasks of department members in order to both successfully oversee their work and to back them up when they are out of the office. The DoMS takes primary responsibility for communicating with faculty applying for a charter chapter and reviewing their online applications before opening them to Board review.
The DoMS will work closely with the Director of Finance (DoF) and Director of Information Services (DoIS) to successfully coordinate smooth merchandise fulfillment through our merchandise fulfillment company, and to grow benefits for members and alumni. The DoMS will work with the Director of Communications to develop new merchandise. The DoMS reports directly to the Executive Director (ED).
