POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Membership and Volunteer Relations Manager is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to significantly impact the Society of Breast Imaging through cross-departmental initiatives and robust campaigns that grow membership, increase retention, advance greater member-volunteer engagement, and expand awareness of the Society.
This position will play a key role in building and maintaining positive relationships with current members and conveying the value of SBI membership to potential members. This role is also responsible for the management of volunteer relations through oversight of assigned volunteer committees; assisting in the planning and execution of volunteer programs and initiatives based on the Society’s strategic objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Member Relations
- Serves as the first point of contact for members, prospects, volunteers, and staff
- Understands the importance of member care and ensures a positive experience for members including a timely resolution to any inquiries, issues, or concerns
- Responds to staff requests for membership information and prepares reports from the database
- Represents SBI and builds membership through exhibition at trade shows
- Works in coordination with the Marketing & Communications Manager to deploy strategies to promote membership and program initiatives and to develop annual membership renewal and retention campaigns
Volunteer Relations
- Serves as direct staff liaison to the following committees: Membership, Mentorship, Resident & Fellows Section, Young Professionals Section, and Fellows; supports IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity & Equity Alliance) as necessary
- Manages committee chairs subcommittee
- Provides administrative support for committees
- Manages Fellows Application process and induction event details
- Manages the annual committee call for volunteers process
- Manages annual match program; ensures fellowship programs are registered, supports the Match committee, ensures NRMP compliance
- Submits compliance monitoring forms to NRMP
- Works in coordination with Marketing & Communications Manager to promote the Fellowship Match to residents, programs, and the Society
- Manages the mentorship program; recruitment of mentors and mentees and adherence to program requirements
- Supports the Mentorship Committee and their efforts to promote and support the program
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Two or more years of progressive membership experience preferably in a non-profit association
- Strong communication, administrative, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Perform well under pressure
- Ability to thrive independently and work collaboratively
- Proficiency in association database management systems like Novi AMS, marketing automation platforms like Informz (Higher Logic), and project management tools like Asana are a plus
