PURPOSE
The purpose of this job is to serve our members, customers, and co-workers by helping to ensure effective and efficient strategies and associated tactics for member growth, retention, and engagement activities.
SUMMARY
The Director, Membership will create and execute a comprehensive plan to grow membership, including assessing market sectors and geographic areas for growth, and setting targets for member engagement. Responsibilities of the role include providing strategic and operational direction and executing tactics to grow membership and promote engagement among key stakeholders including members and chapters. This position is responsible for developing strategies and processes that deliver promised benefits to members which result in year-round and career-lasting member engagement aimed at retaining current and growing new members, supported by organizational wide focus and efficient and effective delivery of customer service. Cultivating cross departmental and team relationships will be key to successful membership management efforts.
In coordination with the Senior Vice President of Executive Engagement, this position is responsible for ensuring that member facing activities are in alignment with ACHE’s strategic, operational, and departmental plans.
ACHE is a hybrid work environment, requiring 3 days per week in our Chicago loop office.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Recruitment of New Members 30% of Time
- Develops and implements a comprehensive strategy to grow overall membership and maximize revenues.
- Analyzes membership data, producing periodic reports and collects information on membership trends, models, and dues revenue.
- Researches new membership dues structures and benefits, including making recommendations for change.
- Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to ensure all member messaging is consistent with ACHE brand, and strategic goals.
- Assist with coordination of Chapter efforts to grow membership.
- Retention of Current Members 30% of Time
- Creates a strategy for renewal campaigns and creates approaches to optimize retention.
- Analyzes membership and financial data for areas of risk or opportunity.
- Analyze member needs data to guide decisions regarding benefits of membership and products. Makes recommendations to adjust and improve plans and tactics as needed.
- Creates and activates plans to drive the pursuit of Fellow status amongst membership.
- Member Engagement 30% of Time
- Oversees all membership related initiatives (e.g.: Leader To Leader Program) ensuring they are conducted efficiently and consistently, and result in high member satisfaction and engagement.
- Supports the Membership Committee.
- Promotes member value and communicates the importance of engagement efforts across all areas of ACHE, including Certification, Learning, and Marketing/Communications.
- Supports the ACHE Recognition Program.
- Supports the graduate student scholarship programs, orienting toward a membership pipeline of future engaged members.
- Other 10% of Time
- Prepares membership goals, revenue targets and other related budget items.
- Special projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s degree in marketing, health administration, business administration, or related field.
- Minimum of ten years’ experience in increasing responsibilities in marketing and/or membership recruitment/retention. Related healthcare experience a plus.
- Employed experience in professional societies/associations is required.
- Experience in using a CRM to manage membership functions is required. NetForum experience is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate and build cross departmental relationships.
