Director will serve as the primary lobbyist and manage governmental affairs for the association. Responsibilities include tracking, drafting, and influencing state legislation and amendments impacting the practice of civil plaintiffs law in WV. Build and maintain relationships with legislators, legislative staff, coalition partners and the lobbying community. Manage legislative team, including instructing and coordinating member volunteers.
Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree or Juris Doctorate preferred; at least five years of legislative lobbying and/or staff experience preferred; flexible work hours; excellent written and oral communications skills; manage multiple issues and deadlines; ability to work effectively in bipartisan political climate.
The West Virginia Association for Justice is a voluntary bar association for attorneys licensed to practice in West Virginia. WVAJ and its members are committed to protecting access to our state and federal courts, the civil justice system, and our 7th Amendment right to trial by jury in civil cases. WVAJ also works to improve the state’s statutory and common law.
