SUMMARY: | Staff lead for the AGA Center for GI Innovation and Technology. Oversees all initiatives of the center including scientific meetings, educational programs, and key opinion leader engagement. In addition, responsible for business development activities that promote the center’s financial viability. |
Position Overview:
The director is responsible for advancing the mission and objectives of the AGA Center for GI Innovation and Technology (CGIT), a virtual center that aims to support new technologies in gastroenterology from idea to adoption. The Center encompasses a broad portfolio of activities including an annual Tech Summit, key opinion leader meetings, educational programs, and publications in scientific journals. The director will also be part of a team supporting an exciting new partnership between AGA and Varia Ventures, the GI Opportunity Fund.
The ideal candidate will be open, innovative, collaborative, engaged and inclusive, in line with AGA’s core values. He/she/they will also be familiar with the medical technology lifecycle and have experience developing and executing impactful programs.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Serve as the staff liaison to the Center for GI Innovation and Technology Committee.
- Oversee the development and execution of the annual AGA Tech Summit.
- Develop concepts for new programs and initiatives and actively seek funding through grants, sponsorships, sales, and other mechanisms.
- Generate leads and execute agreements with potential clients seeking guidance and assistance from the Center or interested in seeking funding through the GI Opportunity Fund, including innovators, early-stage and established companies.
- Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders such as clinician experts, industry, regulators (e.g., FDA), and investors.
- Establish, monitor and achieve financial and programmatic goals for the Center in tandem with supervisor.
- Assess the success and impact of the Center’s activities and provide regular reports to senior management, Center leadership, and other audiences as requested.
- Be a reliable team member within the organization and facilitate productive working relationships with other staff, vendors/contractors and association members.
- Create annual budgets and monitor monthly invoices and expenses.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned commensurate with the scope and responsibility of this position.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 6 years of progressive work experience including program management.
- Knowledge of the medical technology lifecycle. Prior experience with the medical technology industry is helpful.
- Highly adaptable and flexible, with the ability to pivot quickly and think critically to address challenges and opportunities.
- Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative and team-oriented.
- Highly organized with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and health care is helpful.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
