POSITION OVERVIEW
The Advanced Support Specialist will act as Tier II support for end-users and systems at NCSL. Strong analytical, planning, organizing, communicating, and problem-solving skills are required to be successful in this position which will be the immediate backup to the Tier I support specialist. The ability to support the evaluation, installation, setup and maintenance of various hardware and software is essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Typical duties include some or most of the following:
- Provide in-depth technical support. Assess issues and provide solutions to problems escalated or unhandled by Tier 1 support.
- Monitor and perform basic configuration of systems, network, and infrastructure.
- Provide support on tools for email security, cybersecurity, backups, domain controllers, imaging, and the like in a hybrid Microsoft environment.
- Collaborate with and assist other team members for best practices and innovation, creation and monitoring of procedures, and policies.
- Provide timely support to clients both deskside and remotely as needed. Perform PC and network troubleshooting, correcting faults and providing resolution of complex problem tickets. Some weekend and off-hours monitoring, correspondence and support should be anticipated.
- Maintain and support the phone and AV systems.
- Contribute to the administration of network, backup, and disaster recovery.
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of multiple IT projects.
- Collaborate with other groups at NCSL in a respectful and effective manner.
- Collaborate with vendors and assist with procurement.
- Performs other responsibilities as needed.
Supervisor/Management Responsibilities:
- May oversee one intern or serve as coordinator of a team of other professionals on a short-term project.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent certifications (A+, Network+, CCNA, CCSP, MCP, MCSE, and MCSA).
- 4+ years professional experience supporting end-users in a cloud or hybrid environment.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft/Windows client and server environments.
- Excellent knowledge of Office 365 administration, Azure, AD, Exchange, PowerShell scripting.
- Knowledge of mobile phones, specifically iPhones.
- Understanding of the structure, use, and support of cloud-based phone systems.
- Understanding of functions of network components (i.e., Switches, routers, firewalls, etc.).
- Experience with virtualization (Microsoft Hyper-V and/or VMWare).
- Demonstrated success in working with people in establishing goals, objectives, and change management.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts in laymans terms.
- Positive attitude, troubleshooting, project management, initiative, and professionalism are of utmost importance.
- Must be a Colorado resident or willing to relocate.
