The Aluminum Association based in Arlington, VA, is seeking a Statistical Analyst. The position will own the development and maintenance of the North American aluminum industry’s reporting processes; ensure data provided through the Statistical Program is timely, relevant, and accurate; and broadly support the Association’s business information needs. The Statistical Analyst will report to the Vice President, Market Growth and Development.
Established in 1933, the Aluminum Association is the trade association for the North American aluminum industry and has a $7.5M budget. The Aluminum Association is the industry’s leading voice in Washington, DC providing global standards, industry statistics and expert knowledge to member companies and policy makers nationwide. Highly engaged in public policy and technical forums, the Association is committed to advancing aluminum as the sustainable metal of choice around the world – The Association’s statistics program is the bedrock on which successful programs are built.
The successful candidate will be responsible for distilling actionable information from the collection, review, and analyses of industry-related data and information (both internal and external sources). The Analyst will be proficient in producing written and graphic reports for senior management, taking full advantage of the Association’s new statistical platform’s capabilities.
To be successful, the candidate will work to enhance the member/subscriber experience while supporting the tactical and strategic goals of the other Association departments, the Statistical and Market Research Committee, and market committees.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the Statistical Program’s data reporting and collection procedures, providing Aluminum Association stakeholders (both internal and external) with timely statistics and relevant trends on the North American aluminum industry.
- Maintain regular communications with statistical reporters and up-to-date documentation of statistical reporting requirements and end-user instructions.
- Ensure the security of member data and routine maintenance of internal databases.
- Lead all projects related to the Association’s Statistical Portal, including those that allow for the association and its members to take full advantage of its overall capabilities. Identify ways to improve the value of the Portal, while keeping the platform secure and on its upgrade path.
- Manage contracts, third-party vendors, and consultants as needed, ensuring work is carried out and completed on time and within budget.

- Aptitude for a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to learn new data environments and analytical tools quickly.
- Adept at problem solving and root cause analysis, offering alternative solutions to complex business processes or issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executive, managers, and subject matter experts.
- Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills including an understanding of how to interpret business data and translate it into insightful and actionable analytics.
- Proven experience identifying issues, making recommendations, and finding effective solutions through analytical, logical, and iterative approaches.
- Experience in, or knowledge of, the aluminum industry is a plus.
- Experience utilizing association management software (AMS) tools is also a plus (e.g. YourMembership).
Required Skills/Experience:
- BA/BS in Economics, Statistics, Math, or related field or comparable education and experience required.
- At least three years of hands-on experience utilizing relational databases (Excel, Access, SQL).
- Demonstrated experience with front end analysis tools (Power BI, Tableau, Domo, etc.)
- Understanding of data access/security protocols – user permissions, page/content access settings, content authority.
- Demonstrated project management experience with strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience in survey research, data analysis, statistics, or general economics involving the extensive manipulation of raw data.
