POSITION PURPOSE This position works globally to develop, implement, and manage structures and processes to ensure that our volunteers feel appropriately supported, stewarded, recognized, and valued. The position works with colleagues across the association to assess current and proposed leadership groups to ensure that they continue to add strategic value and that they advance our priorities and strategic intent. The position will be based in one of our four regional offices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Responsibilities
Develop a comprehensive strategy for volunteer engagement and work with CASE colleagues globally to implement that strategy. Work with colleagues and key volunteer leaders across CASE to evaluate current and proposed leadership groups to ensure that they continue to advance CASE’s priorities and strategic intent.
Establish a volunteer lifecycle structure that ensures a robust pipeline of new volunteers and creates pathways for deeper volunteer engagement.
Lead a systematic and ongoing approach to identify and prioritize volunteer opportunities.
Develop systems and processes to track volunteer interest and engagement and work with global colleagues to implement them.
Develop and deliver volunteer recruitment and onboarding plans.
Develop a coordinated, CASE-wide volunteer stewardship and recognition process, including a “concierge program” for our most engaged volunteer leaders.
Support and empower volunteers to serve as ambassadors for the value of CASE membership and to support CASE in member engagement and retention Create mechanisms to evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of our volunteer management and stewardship activities and recommend changes, as necessary. Track and report volunteer demographics to senior CASE leadership on a regular basis.
Advise staff on best practices in volunteer recruitment, management, and stewardship.
Lead CASE’s Distinguished Service Awards, working alongside colleagues who manage our Recognition Programs.
Work with divisional colleagues to manage the CASE Laureates. Liaison Responsibilities
Work cooperatively and diplomatically with all divisions and regions.
Work with key volunteers and leadership groups to ensure that they are advancing CASE’s strategic priorities, providing meaningful insights, and amplifying key messages.
Liaise with CASE colleagues in other parts of the world to ensure the best sharing of ideas, expertise, and knowledge.
Fiscal Responsibilities
Develop and manage budgets to support activities; ensure that CASE resources are utilized effectively and responsibly. Management Responsibilities
Manage, motivate, hire, and train departmental staff.
Set annual goals and objectives; mentor, guide and evaluate the way the individuals perform their work; encourage continual professional development. Create and maintain a collegial, inclusive work environment that enables staff to make a positive contribution and encourages mutual respect and trust. Ensure that information is communicated across the association so staff can fulfill their responsibilities and make sound decisions.
Ensure that plans and programs are in place that advance CASE’s goals for inclusiveness. Demonstrate by example and communicate ways in which each CASE employee can enhance his or her awareness of the importance of inclusiveness to the organization. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
Key qualifications, experience, and education:
Six or more years of experience working with, managing, and stewarding members and volunteers.
A strong communicator with rapport who is approachable and a good listener. Experience preferred in one or more areas within institutional advancement (alumni relations, communications, marketing, fundraising, or advancement services).
Experience working across a complex, matrixed association or institution. College or university degree required.
