The IT and Database Administrator provides hands-on administration of the SAA’s various information systems, including its member database, website, and network applications. SAA contracts with third-party vendors for advanced programming and IT support services. This position serves as the staff’s resident technology expert, advising and executing the organization’s technical strategy, supervising and directing the work of vendors, and providing day-to-day technical assistance to fellow staff and SAA members.
Database Administration (Salesforce). Serve as primary Salesforce Administrator of SAA’s Association Management System (AMS), NimbleAMS, which is built on Salesforce. Assist staff with creating reports and dashboards. Create workflows and automations. Work with vendors for customer support and development of solutions and new features. Ongoing training of and consultation with staff to leverage the power of the AMS.
Support technical projects across all departments. Lead software selection process and implementation of new tools. Lead data-oriented projects. Determine requirements and build solutions within existing platforms, which include:
- AMS (NimbleAMS – member database) - CMS (Drupal – primary website) - LMS (PathLMS – education content) - Community Platform (Higher Logic – discussion lists) - Event platforms: proposal submission/speaker management, and booth sales - Digital content publishing platforms
Support technical infrastructure. Purchase workstations, oversee software deployment.
Work with staff and Managed Service Provider to determine strategies for technical operations of the office, including workstations, servers, cloud systems, security, phone systems, productivity software, etc.
Technical Support of staff. Triage any “Help Desk” issues for staff and escalate to Managed Service Provider as needed.
Direct customer support of technical issues using web-based platforms.
Collaborate with other teams on current and future strategies.
Other duties may be assigned.
Database administration experience, including strong understanding of SQL/SOQL. Salesforce experience preferred.
Experience and familiarity with Content Management Systems. Drupal and WordPress preferred.
Demonstrated ability to effectively engage volunteer leaders using multiple communication methods (written, oral, social media, etc.) and tailor programs to fit different needs.
Experience managing technical projects, including needs assessment, business analysis, design, and implementation is preferred.
Experience managing external technology vendors.
Association management experience is desired.
Self-starter with an energetic personality who is comfortable working independently and as part of a team. Creative person who can think outside the box.
