The Water Environment Federation (WEF) is a not-for-profit technical and educational organization of about 30,000 individual members and 75 affiliated Member Associations representing water quality professionals around the world. Role of Independent Contractor – Membership Manager
This contract position works closely with the team to implement select membership recruitment, retention, and engagement activities. This employee will possess exceptional communication and organizational skills, knowledge of membership lifecycle, comfort with current and emerging technology platforms, and strong program management experience.
This is a three-month contract position with possible renewal to six months.
Strong Mail Merge (Word) skills including template creation.
Acquisition campaign support and general membership marketing experience (for large scale campaigns).
Ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy of information.
Experience creating membership related technical training documents and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Support WEF’s general membership recruitment, engagement, and retention initiatives including review and proofing acquisition campaign copy for accuracy.
Support recruitment and retention efforts for WEF’s Utility Partnership Program (UPP).
Support lapsed member win back campaigns with support from the membership team.
Support the creation of periodic member experience surveys to all segments and help implement any actionable feedback.
Assist with monthly membership reports, as needed.
Engage with WEF staff and members to provide excellent customer service and a user-friendly member experience.
Provides support for other membership related tasks, as necessary.

Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to research, troubleshoot, document and guide customers through issues.
What the Successful Candidate Bring to the WEF Team
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum 3 years of experience as membership manager in an association or other member-focused, nonprofit environment.
Experience working in an AMS or CRM (Salesforce or Fonteva experience required).
Excellent customer-service ethic and
Ability to work collaboratively in formal teams and informal working groups, as well as independently.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Solid skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
