The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) is the premier international membership association for physicians, researchers, and medical professionals, who are dedicated to conquering lung and thoracic cancers worldwide. We are seeking an Accounting Manager to join our efforts in getting the word out about amazing advancements in the treatment of lung cancer.
Day to day, the Accounting Manager partners with all levels of the business to direct accounting functions, deliver timely and accurate financial reporting results, and support the strategic direction of the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong working knowledge of general accounting principles, financial reporting, budget processing, and annual tax form preparation. Responsibilities will include daily completion and management of accounting functions while working closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to implement continuous process improvements. The Accounting Manager must be an organized multitasker who can effectively prioritize workload and work under time pressure while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor.
In this role, you will:
Under the direction of the CFO, supervise the IASLC’s accounting functions, including reviewing transactions, account balances, and financial reports for reasonableness and accuracy, as well as ensuring accurate, timely reporting of all financial information
Provide daily oversight and management of accounting activities, including accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger entries, budgeting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, and check runs
Review reconciliations of general ledger accounts, research/resolve discrepancies, ensuring accuracy of data
Participate in the accurate and timely preparation of internal and external financial reports
Drive process improvement and efficiency in all accounting and close functions
Establish, document, and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, procedures, and principles
Lead the preparation of audit schedules and necessary documentation, and serve as primary liaison with the external audit staff on audit inquires to ensure a timely year-end audit
Coordinate annual budgeting and forecasting activities for each fiscal year through the financial management system (FMS)
Lead system implementations to streamline accounting functions, achieve new initiatives, and provide integration with other platforms, including Salesforce AMS, Expensify and Bill.com
Assist in preparation of fiscal and operating reports for the Finance Committee
Assist with the preparation of the annual 990 filing
Effectively supervise, develop, and mentor accounting staff
Actively support and demonstrate IASLC core values.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as needed

A successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
A deep commitment to the mission of the IASLC and compassion for those living with a lung cancer diagnosis
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, MS degree a plus. CPA preferred.
5 years of progressive accounting experience in public or nonprofit accounting
2 years of supervisory experience
Technical knowledge of general accounting and audit principles and practices, as well as standard accounting processes and procedures, and internal controls.
Strong proficiency with Sage Intacct (preferred) or similar financial management systems
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with the ability to construct financial models and reports, including macros.
Maintain discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial or personal information
Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and schedule work to ensure timely completion
Proven ability to collaborate effectively across the organization with strong ability to communicate proactively and clearly present financial information and concepts
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required (5-10%)
Bilingual or multilingual a plus

Compensation: $80,000-95,000 annually, depending on related experience.
