Rent Responsibly is a national network of short-term rental alliance chapters. Through remote chapter support services, hands-on training, and centralized technology, we enable local groups of STR advocates to work together effectively with their policy-makers and communities to create fair rules for STRs in their towns.
The Chapter Manager plays a central role in the effectiveness and ultimate success of Rent Responsibly chapters. During an ordinance process, the Chapter Manager makes it possible for local short-term rental advocates to focus their critical limited hours on the things only they can do: engage with their elected officials, local business allies, and broader communities and fight for a fair ordinance outcome. Outside of an ordinance process, the Chapter Manager leads the development of a chapter toward self sustainability, meaning a robust group with an engaged membership, regular events, and an effective, motivated leadership team.
The Chapter Manager will report to the Executive Director and work closely with the Head of Advocacy and Head of Chapter Success. This is a full-time position expected to start in February.

What It’s Like to Work for Rent Responsibly
Rent Responsibly is a 100% remote team regardless of Covid-19. We collaborate daily through Slack, Zoom, GSuite tools, and Todoist. We don’t measure our days from 9 to 5 but rather through productivity and execution. Our teammates must be self directed and have (or be able to create) the ideal remote work environment for themselves.
We are a small but nimble and enthusiastic team, so those who are willing to jump in with both feet on team projects, wear multiple hats, and then switch those hats on the fly will be happiest here. We invest in our teammates’ growth, too, including professional development resources, ample opportunities to take on higher roles as the company grows, and space to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors.
Send an email to our Executive Director at info [at] rentresponsibly.org sharing why your experience, skills and qualities make you a good fit for this role. Please include links to samples of your work when applicable. Please also attach your resume.
Form letters will be ignored. All genuine applicants will receive a response. Thank you!
Your written communication is impeccable. You can translate a piece of an ordinance as well as you can craft a call to action for social media.
You enjoy empowering others. Whether it’s by teaching someone something new through content or making sure they know about an opportunity to make a difference, you find success in other people’s success.
You have supreme attention to detail. An improper capitalization or a missed comma does not get past you.
You don’t shy away from making processes more efficient or creating new processes from scratch when needed, but you’re most at home in the execution of projects and tasks.
You love hitting Post or Send and marking things off your to-do list.
Everything checked off your list meets your high standards of quality, but you don’t let perfection get in the way of a deadline.
Speaking of, you can take a big desired outcome and break it into the steps needed to achieve it and build an effective timeline accordingly. You know how to set deadlines and project milestones for yourself, and you don’t mind gently nudging others to meet theirs, too, especially for processes you own.
You are adept at managing your time. You can juggle projects and shuffle priorities flexibly. You’re versed in saying “Yes, but…” or “No, but…” to new requests.
You are comfortable working with small teams that collaborate and shift often.
You think two and three steps ahead with strategy and tact.
If you’ve ever taken a DISC assessment, you probably score high on the C scale.
