We are seeking an Associate Director, IT, with experience supporting the internal IT operations of a small-to-midsize business or non-profit/association. You will demonstrate high level understanding of business IT systems on a conceptual level and must be well versed in administering these systems in practical daily use. The Associate Director, IT, will collaborate with our IT Team in the development and execution of our technical operations and solutions. Additionally, you will take a hands-on and collaborative approach to achieve goals to increase our staff’s effectiveness. This includes supporting the efficient use of technology amongst the staff by identifying best practices and educating staff on use of applications and security awareness.
What you’ll bring to the job:
Ability to think strategically about business and technology needs and recommend best practices and solutions to requirements and challenges. Skilled in requirements gathering, project management, technology training. Must embody a customer-service centric approach to technology support and management.
BA/BS in Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
At least 5 years technology experience in an enterprise setting. Experience may include, IT project management, business analysis, network administration, systems management, and/or database management. Experience must include 3-4 years in the day-to-day management of technology resources for an organization with a staff of at least 30 people and multiple programs.
Strong knowledge of Azure, Active Directory, Windows Server 2016, SQL Server, Office 365, principles of LAN and WAN networking.
Knowledge of network administration concepts. Ability to manage firewall settings, email security platforms, workstation antivirus, and other systems.
Ongoing self-learning and a commitment to staying current with changes in the field of technology is very important.
Strong project management – demonstrated ability to conceptualize, launch and deliver multiple IT projects on time and within budget.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills – both verbal and written.
Knowledge of best practices, current trends and developments in information technology.
Strong communication/presentation and teaching/training skills.
Skilled at identifying and evaluating new technological developments and gauging their appropriateness for society, and ability to make clear recommendations based on those evaluations. Ability to formulate cost/benefit analyses around new technology initiatives.
General knowledge of Office 365, SharePoint, and network administration in a Microsoft environment.
Experience with database management. Experience with NetForum a plus.

What you’ll own:
Ensure the stability of the Society’s network infrastructure, working alongside managed hosting partners.
Provide oversight/management of core IT systems – Active Directory, Office 365, email security platform, workstation antivirus and RMM, and others.
Serve as an internal resource for staff groups looking to initiate new technology projects or to improve their use of existing technologies. May include project management responsibilities, requirements gathering, vendor selection, or consulting on business process changes.
Develop, maintain, and continuously improve an ongoing technology-enablement/training program for Society staff. May include in-person training sessions, video training libraries, and other methods of education.
Identify security vulnerabilities and eliminate them with strategic solutions that increase data safety.
Assess and recommend best practices around the Society’s Office 365 subscription – assist staff with adoption of new tools arriving within Office 365 – Teams, Skype for Business, Planner, SharePoint, OneDrive, Office 365 Groups, and others. Build consensus across the organization and drive adoption.
Manage an employee security awareness training program (i.e. KnowBe4).
Assess and improve internal IT processes, develop standard operating procedures and best practices, including written protocols.
Ensure the optimum use of existing communications/AV equipment in meeting and conference rooms.
Support the Specialist, IT Support with onboarding and offboarding employees. Onsite Mitel PBX phone system setup, Active Directory, Office 365, and other applications.
Supervise the Specialist, IT Support. Support their ongoing career development and work to establish short and long-term goals and objectives.
Assist with the development of technology requirements for the Society’s annual meeting.
Assist the Director of IT with annual budget preparation and department finances.
Collaborate with the web services department on various web development needs and CMS infrastructure projects.
Assist the Director with IT policies and procedures, including architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing.
Assist Director with negotiating and administering vendor contracts and service agreements.
