The Water Environment Federation is seeking a Development Editor to coordinate the development of operations-related educational materials, provide support for other technical publications in development, and ensure editorial quality control for WEF publications.
Provides coordination of volunteer teams of technical experts developing publications and educational materials according to Technical Practice Committee and/or WEF established procedures.
Provides editorial quality control of technical content according to APA and WEF style guidelines.
Manages permissions for technical publications under development.
Constructs final documents for production and publication.
Coordinates book production process, working with contractors and reviewing copyedited drafts and page proofs.
Revises content as necessary for consistency, style, clarity, and reading-level appropriateness.
Collaborates with Journals and Books, Education and Training, Marketing, and other teams to ensure the release of high-quality products.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor of Science or Arts.
2+ years editorial experience.
Strong customer service orientation.
Excellent organizational skills, with capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment and prioritize effectively.
Computer literate with Microsoft Office and Adobe proficiency.
Strong initiative, with ability to work independently, anticipate and troubleshoot problems, and meet deadlines.
Ability to quickly learn and master new technologies and processes.
Exceptional editorial skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
This person will work primarily in an office environment using standard office equipment.
While we are located in Alexandria, Virginia, we will consider candidates located elsewhere for a remote position.
