The Senior Accountant will have responsibility for the accounting and financial functions as it relates to certain aspects of NPMA and select affiliates. In addition, the position will be responsible for certain aspects of: (1) closing, (2) payment processing, (3) reconciliation and (4) audit and tax reporting.
Prepare and present monthly financials.
Record monthly deferred entries.
Reconcile all A/R and A/P due to/from affiliates on the balance sheet.
Reconcile, batch and record PayPal activity (weekly) into Aptify (revenue module) and GL.
Reconcile bank accounts monthly.
Reconcile Aptify (revenue module) to GL on a monthly basis.
Other Duties as assigned.
AUDIT, BUDGET AND TAX FILINGS:
Prepare audit workpapers as assigned.
Participate in budget preparation.
Prepare other tax filings to include: (1) property tax, (2) sales and usage, and (3) other items as required.
Work with external consultants to prepare informational tax returns (IRS Form 990).
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a Senior Accountant within the nonprofit community.
An effective communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience working in a non-profit a plus.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to inquiries.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong knowledge of GAAP and FASB.
Utilizing applications including but not limited to, MS Office (emphasis in Excel), and QuickBooks Enterprise.
Excel requires intermediate to expert knowledge level with the ability to manipulate large data sets.
Working knowledge of or the ability to learn Association Database (Preferred working knowledge/experience with Aptify).
Organizational skills; detail oriented; communication skills; accounting knowledge; benefits managements skill; supervisory and leadership skills.
