About You: You are a highly organized, adaptable, creative marketing and communications leader. You can inspire staff, mentor direct reports and straddle just the right balance between edgy marketing and over the line. You are able to deftly identify opportunities in a variety of marketing/communications efforts, including media relations, event planning, digital and video expertise, collateral development and internal communications, all while staying on time and on budget. You can set priorities for your staff and balance interdepartmental expectations. You effectively balance your managerial duties with executing tactics and project as needed. You have proven experience at driving attendees to hybrid (in-person and/or virtual) large international tradeshows and conferences and small boutique/niche gatherings as well as driving exhibitor acquisition campaigns that get results. You will have demonstrated ability to manage cross-marketing campaigns. Minimum 10 years marketing and digital marketing required. Design skills a plus.
About Us: The International Sign Association (ISA), recognized by the Council of Manufacturing Associations as a “Best Place to Work”, is a leading association for the sign, graphics and visual communications industry. Our industry is vibrant and creative—we expect our marketing efforts to match that. We host ISA International Sign Expo®, an annual tradeshow and conference that draws 20,000+ attendees (converting to hybrid in 2021) as well as smaller boutique/niche in-person and virtual events. Throughout the year, we provide ongoing advocacy, research and workforce development programs and assist the Sign Research Foundation (SRF) and 17 affiliates with their MarComm projects. Embraced ISA’s “culture code,” by taking risks to create a dynamic and innovative organizational marketing and communications strategy.
Established processes for data gathering, analysis and execution and created metrics to determine success of existing and new tactics.
Executed a strong strategic marketing and communications campaign for all ISA programs, services and events that pushed the line creatively and exceeded goals and expectations.
Executed innovative tactics to increase overall attendance (attendees & exhibitors) and key market segments to ISA International Sign Expo® and other small niche gatherings (in-person and virtual).
Lead the organization to record growth of all in-person and virtual events and elevated the ISA, ISA International Sign Expo, and Sign Research Foundation brands.
Successfully maximized use of digital marketing tools, social media strategies and data management. Actively involved in deployment of strategy and tactics.
Provides day-to-day management, coaching and mentoring to direct reports.
Leads strategy and development of all marketing and communications efforts and analysis,.
Develops and executes a strategic, creative cross-channel marketing plan for ISA’s annual tradeshow and small boutique/niche events (live, virtual and hybrid).
Directs and implements a proactive marketing and communication strategy that enhances the reputation of the organization and member engagement activities. Drives member value through creating awareness of member and organizational activities/efforts.
Drives analytics and metrics on cross-channel marketing campaigns to evaluate performance and translates data into actionable insights. Communicates ROI and progress using monthly and quarterly dashboards or other tools.
Understands lead generation, data management and marketing/communications tools and can maximize use of all these tools.
Oversees strategic media relationships and partnership opportunities (both barter and paid).
Manages deployment of cross-channel marketing campaigns, providing approval and feedback to staff with goal of continued learning and growth.
Becomes keenly aware of the sign, graphics and visual communications industry, its needs and opportunities, and understand where ISA marketing and communications efforts can make an impact.
Researches and identify relevant and innovative technologies, social networks, tools and digital marketing strategies to improve ISA’s marketing efforts.
Helps develop RFPs as needed to solicit bids from vendors.
Execute any tactic within the marketing department—from a social media post to a communications effort to repurposing an article into a video script—as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
Experience developing marketing strategies and plans.
Experience in data management, compliance, governance, quality, and measurement
Experience in reporting on marketing performance and providing visibility to marketers, business owners and executives
Excellent project management and organization skills. Ability to prioritize large volumes of projects and effectively see them through to conclusion.
Proven experience in leading a department, coaching and mentoring.
Exceptional ability to use cross-channel campaign tracking for planning, implementation & quality control ? to drive strategy, tactics, etc.
Exceptional ability to design, execute, analyze, and optimize digital strategy to drive attendance to ISA and SRF events/meetings, increase leads, build brand awareness, and enhance audience engagement.
Ability to think strategically and excel at driving the organization forward.
Excellent MS Excel, PowerPoint, HubSpot, Adobe Suite. Experience using SmartSheet and SalesForce, highly preferred.
Excellent HTML skills and website/CMS editing.
Excellent relationship-building skills, particularly with media.
Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to travel domestically occasionally, including weekends. Ability to lift at least 30lbs and stand or sit for long periods of time.
