The Director of Operations will oversee the daily operations and administrative functions of the Operations Department including, Customer Service, Shipping & Receiving, Human Resources, IT, Purchasing, and Facilities. The Director should have a passion for data and data analysis and have a clear vision for how data can help guide and transform the organization’s strategies and initiatives. Additionally, the Director will participate in, and assist other departments with strategic planning, developing business cases and project plans, and creating management dashboards. The Director will provide oversight and management of the organization’s contractual records.
Daily responsibilities include:
Working closely with a cross-functional team including personnel in IT, website development, customer service, and shipping receiving, and human resources;
Motivating, leading, and inspiring the team to quickly resolve challenges. Building leadership bench strength through individual self-accountability, training, and coaching while developing a culture of continuous improvement;
Challenging the status quo and identifying opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and results;
Supporting other departments in the organization by providing insight, data analysis, and operational expertise;
Shaping the organization’s desire to become a data-driven organization by use data to help executive leadership and the various management teams develop informed recommendations and make decisions.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Expertise in data management and analytics and related software tools
Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions
Knowledge of business and management principles
Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others
B.S. in Business Management or related field required; Postgraduate work or equivalent experience (Masters, MBA) in a quantitative field such as math, operations, statistics, or economics preferred.
Minimum five years of operations management experience in a leadership role partnering with executive staff and resulting in the development and implementation of organizational strategies and initiatives.
Experience with analytic and data visualization preferred.
