The Chief Executives Organization is looking for an experienced and hands-on Controller to manage the day-to-day accounting functions. Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will ensure all daily transactions are processed accurately; create monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports while identify on-going trends and variances in the accounts; and provide financial analysis on various programs and events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and oversee all general ledger, accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions. Ensure all transactions are accurate and posted daily.
Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP, including variance analysis to highlight trends.
Manages the month-end closing process. Prepares journal entries for approval and approves journal entries by the Accounting Manager.
Prepare the bank reconciliation and reconciles all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
Ensure the integrity of the General Ledger and the accounting system. Responsible for establishing accounts and subaccounts in the accounting system.
Confirm information on programs and events in the Salesforce AMS and reconcile with the G/L.
Recommend and implement sound financial controls and areas for process improvement.
Create and update reports in Management Reporter.
Collaborates with the CFO on the annual budget.
Prepares budget reports to department heads on a monthly basis.
Manage the payroll function. Execute all changes through the payroll system for employee benefit deductions. Ensure payroll compliance and filings of quarterly reports are accurate and timely.
Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset schedule and investment schedule on a monthly basis.
Assist with the annual audit. Provide schedules and reconciliations as needed.
Assist with the preparation of the annual 990 tax return, property tax return and all Sales & Use Tax returns.
Update the Accounting Policy Manual. Train staff on accounting policies and procedures.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance related field.
Minimum of 7-10 years of related experience and/or training including a leadership role or equivalent combination.
Strong understanding of GAAP.
Extensive experience using accounting system software (SL Dynamics preferred) and relational membership databases (Salesforce/Fonteva).
Strong analytical and computer skills.
Proficient in Microsoft 365 with advanced Excel abilities.
Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational, analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
