Legislative/Regulatory Area of Responsibility (40%):
Track federal and state legislation using an online platform.
Follow print, broadcast, and online media sources for content relevant to ASA’s issues.
Regularly visit government agency websites for updates on rulemakings, administrative decisions, and other binding guidance.
Assist with the creation of relevant content for ASA’s website, e-newsletter, and blogs.
Chapter Relations Area of Responsibility (60%):
Build and maintain relationships with chapter leaders and Regional Governors by establishing regular contact and becoming their single point of contact.
Assist chapters in their activities, including government and public relations, education, and membership recruitment and retention.
Create and maintain standardized forms and processes for the Chapters.
Develop program, publicize and manage the annual Chapter program at the International Appraisers Conference.
Handle all new chapter processing, charter, paperwork.
Create and deliver chapter leadership training programs.
Develop and maintain a Chapter quarterly newsletter.
Handle annual chapter officer elections and chapter awards process.
Other chapter programs as necessary.
Assist with preparation of certificates, plaques and awards to be presented during ASA’s annual conference.
Assist with ASA’s annual elections.
Four-year degree in political science, pre-law, or other related field of study; will also consider candidates with a demonstrated interest in government relations.
1-3 years of experience in an association or non-profit environment.
Must be able to work independently.
Must possess good writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills.
