Turnaround Management Association (TMA) is searching for an experienced marketing and communications professional. The ideal candidate is someone who is creative, thoughtful, and has a sense of urgency around designing and implementing marketing and communications strategies. Our strategic messaging is focused on providing enhanced value to a professionally diverse membership base and will aid in our membership growth. Turnaround Management Association (TMA), a non-profit organization, is aprofessionally diverse organization in the corporate restructuring, renewal, and corporate health space. Established in 1988 and located in downtown Chicago on Wacker Drive, TMA has nearly 10,000 members in 53 chapters worldwide, including 33 North American chapters. Members include turnaround practitioners, attorneys, accountants, advisors, liquidators, consultants, as well as academic, government employees, and members of the judiciary. What is the Opportunity?
Reporting to the CEO, this position provides strategic leadership for marketing, communications, publication and branding activities across multiple channels with company annual revenue in excess of $4 million. The incumbent serves as a member of the Senior Leadership Team and will maintain effective relationships with volunteer leadership and chapters. Furthermore, the individual identifies trends and programs in the industry to keep the organization relevant in the marketplace managing a full-time staff of three.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead staff in support of mission and strategic plan to achieve goals and meet budget objectives.
Responsible for development of marketing plan and the creation and management of the budget to support activities identified in the plan.
Ensure department effectively supports the activities and goals of the organization ensuring brand standards and voice consistency are maintained.
Develop and implement marketing plans in support of all revenue areas including membership, conferences, certification, education and member affiliate programs.
Develop and manage departmental budget to ensure desired results are achieved.
Identify new programs or services that have value to the membership that could be effectively monetized.
Ensure website as well as all areas of social/digital media is maintained as an effective marketing and communications tool.
Oversee TMA's publications including The Journal of Corporate Renewal, e-newsletters and other corporate communications.
Develop and maintain a social media strategy to enhance the TMA brand.
Manage relationships with key vendors.
Remain current on trends and issues impacting the TMA membership, the industry, marketing, communications, branding and association management.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with assigned member volunteer Vice Presidents and key leaders at all levels of the organization.
Serve as liaison for the Communications Council and other committees and working groups as requested.
Serve as a resource to chapter leaders and administrators and provide oversight of the direct marketing and communications support delivered by Global to the chapters.
Strategically design and implement a public relations strategy that maintains and enhances TMA's position in the corporate restructuring industry.
Perform other duties as necessary.
What qualifications are needed?
Bachelors' degree in public relations, communications, or marketing or other relevant experience.
CAE designation helpful
7+ years of experience, with at least 2 years' experience in association management
Minimum of 2 years' supervisory experience.
Proficient in all areas of communication to include social/digital media, podcasts and video
Must be a team player with the ability to think and act strategically and analytically
Strong verbal and written presentation skills
Receptive to feedback for further career development and growth
Able to see the big picture and embrace a holistic approach to marketing
Possess strong collaboration skills across all levels
Skilled in project management and be a Leader/Risk Taker/Change Agent
Creative and innovative with the ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines
Ability to travel up to 25% to include international travel
