The National Council for Behavioral Health is the unifying voice of America’s mental health and addictions service and treatment organizations. Each year, we elevate that voice at NatCon, the largest behavioral health conference in health care with more than 6,000 attendees. NatCon is just one of several meetings the National Councl conducts throughout the year. As directed by the Executive Vice President and under the direct supervision of the Assistant VP for Conferences, the Senior Conference Associate is involved in conference program development, session and speaker selection and management, accreditation to 11 accrediting bodies, conference evaluations, and conference support.
Duties & Responsibilities
Conference development. The Senior Conference Associate researches potential topics and presenters and makes recommendations for conference headliners and speakers. This position also works as part of a team to develop the curriculum for the full conference, including managing the Call for Presentations and review processes.
Faculty selection and management. The Senior Conference Associate functions as the primary liaison to our more than 600 conference presenters. They are responsible for speaker management – including managing speaker contracts, collection of key speaker information (bios, presentations, learning objectives, AV requirements, photos, resumes, etc.) throught the use of CadmiumCD, a speaker management system. They also manage collection and organization of PPT presentations and session handouts.
CEUs/evaluations. The Senior Conference Associate manages the National Council’s accreditation process. They lead efforts to maximize conference sessions approved for CEU/CME credit, by working with 11 different national CEU sponsoring agencies. They manage the approval process for the curriculum and work directly with the accreditation organizations to get approval when things need to be modified. They oversee conference evaluations development, distribution, and post event analysis.
Conference support. The Senior Conference Associate maintains the accuracy of speaker information on the conference website and app. They respond to queries from registrants, faculty and exhibitors regarding conference and continuing education credits. The Senior Conference Associate performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelors’ Degree in related field
At least 6-8 years’ experience managing faculty/speakers for an annual conference
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to build relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
Experience with a speaker management system preferably CadmiumCD
High level proficiency in Microsoft Office—PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Results-oriented with a high attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and meet deadlines in a demanding, fast-paced environment
Ability to travel up to 10%
