The Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) is seeking a Community Development Manager to serve as a liaison to several SGIA committees and help implement strategic initiatives within the industry as directed by the committee and association leadership.
This position requires a high-level of collaboration, relationship building and ingenuity. The ideal candidate brings energy to inspire volunteers to think “outside the box”, tact, and the ability to focus large groups.
While event management experience is preferred since committee initiatives involve small meetings, the primary focus is working with the volunteers and facilitating efforts to drive content and programs that meet industry needs. Community events involve “creating an experience” by providing a healthy mix of fresh and interesting education tracks and unique networking opportunities. The ideal Community Development Manager candidate is dynamic and flexible with strong project management skills. Willingness to work as a team and multi-task across committees is a must.

A bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in related field (print industry or trade association).
High level of committee work or engagement with volunteer leadership.
Minimum of three to five years of relevant experience.
Event planning/management experience preferred.

Ability to collaborate and share concepts and ideas with both committee members and staff.
Ability to develop budgets and maintain detailed records.
Ability to switch gears quickly and meet deadlines.
Experience working with venues and vendors to facilitate events.
Ability to identify and help negotiate speaker contracts for events.
Experience with event registration/logistics is a plus.
