About The Able Trust
The Able Trust is a 501(c)(3) organization, created by the state legislature in 1990 as a Direct Support Organization of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. Its mission is to be a key leader in creating successful employment opportunities for Floridians with disabilities. The work is done through an extensive, statewide grants program and the operation and oversight of programs for HS youth with disabilities. Since its beginnings, the organization has helped to put thousands of people with disabilities to work, the majority in FT career path employment. The organization works directly with businesses to encourage the recruitment and hiring of people with disabilities, with community organizations to assist with training and placement, and with elected officials and public employees to address barriers to employment. The Able Trust has worked with organizations in all 67 counties of Florida. It is funded with an endowment and through fundraising activities.
