TITLE: Fayetteville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (FACVB) Sales Coordinator (sell and manage the fraternal market)
HOURS: 8 am – 5 pm Monday through Friday. Some weekend and evening work required.
STATUS: Non-Exempt/At Will
NATURE OF WORK:
Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Sales. A compensatory performance review shall be conducted annually. There is a three-month probation period, and employment is at will.
Perform administrative tasks for the Sales Department, to include the following:
- Sales and marketing meeting preparation
- Filing and creating folders for new business - Update proposals received from hotels
- Email/mail proposals to clients
- Update master calendar
- Take photos of events when needed
Work Simpleview content for Sales Department, to include the following:
- Follow up on traces and update Simpleview
- Add contacts from tradeshows and other meetings to Simpleview - Update hotel content and contacts as needed
Assist Sales Department with event details and paperwork
- Send and collect surveys after each event - Process Group Service Request Forms (GSROs) for upcoming events - Contact planner/coordinator for upcoming events to ensure everything is in order
Continuous review of hotels and motels data in Simpleview to ensure data accuracy.
Prepare bid proposals, prepare and make sales presentations for multi-property functions, coordinate fraternal sales missions to target cities. Prepare and host familiarization tours and site inspections for fraternal planner and coordinators.
Utilize direct mail, telemarketing, and direct sales calls to solicit fraternal business. Distribute single property leads to hotel and hospitality suppliers.
Maintain liaison role with area accommodations general managers and respective sales staff to facilitate good working relationships.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of principles of effective communications, to include social media (FB, Twitter, etc.).
Knowledge and ability to distinguish different markets, marketing strategies, publicity and promotions programs, and needs for the Sales Department.
Ability to learn and maintain knowledge of FACVB organizational policies and goals that apply to area of responsibility.
Ability to gather, compile, and compose information to recruit new business to Cumberland County.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, city and county officials, NC State Representatives, and others throughout the community.
Ability to plan, organize, and effectively present ideas and concepts to groups and to communicate effectively and professionally, orally, and in writing.
Ability to assimilate information from a variety of sources, analyze information, and recommend course of action to be taken to enhance the goals and objectives of the FACVB.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in the performance of job duties and to represent the FACVB in a positive, enthusiastic, and professional manner.
Follow up on leads and close bids to produce assigned annual quota of hotel room nights. Track leads to determine booking or lost business. Information is also used to create reports internally and externally within Simpleview.
Knowledge of and ability to operate personal computers, to include word-processing programs, internet programs and protocols, and related programs and databases, as well as other related software to carry out job duties and functions. Be able to operate equipment used by the position.
Build a working knowledge of the tourism industry, to include Cumberland County and the assets contained within.
Ability to be self-sufficient.
Ability to request training needs and implement current trends and lessons acquired.
Ability to lift, push, or carry up to 50 pounds.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Tourism and Hospitality, Resort Management, or a related field. Have a demonstrated ability to write in a concise and brief manner.
Experience with necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities. Background in hospitality industry.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Each applicant who is tendered an offer for employment must have and maintain a valid North Carolina driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
