CompTIA is looking for a community manager to lead our Managed Services and IT Security communities.The successful candidate will be a self-driven leader who is passionate about the tech industry and is able to work broadly across senior levels in the industry to build engagement, consensus and strong ongoing industry value within the communities. The candidate will also be the primary liaison between the community and CompTIA staff, successfully advocating for each communities’ needs and advancing CompTIA’s overall direction through the communities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
·Recruit and build a strong volunteer base comprised of senior industry leaders from Managed Services, and IT Security companies.
·Develop and foster strong ongoing community leadership according to CompTIA’s governance structure (executive council and chairs)
·Work with volunteer leadership and CompTIA to build consensus on community vision and direction
·Work with volunteer leadership and CompTIA to build and execute on an ongoing schedule of meetings and activities to realize community vision and direction, generating significant ongoing industry engagement.
·Work closely with the community to identify common industry concerns and opportunities, and build programs to address them, driving strong member value.
·Work with different functional teams within the organization to meet the diverse needs of the community (events, research, education, public policy, etc.) and realize overall community vision and direction.
·Be an advocate for the industry and CompTIA through thought leadership efforts.
·Work with CompTIA’s membership team to grow our membership base throughout the world.
·Perform other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications Include:
·5+ years work experience working with Managed Service Providers and/or IT Security companies in the SMB channel.
·5+ years work experience leading large and diverse teams of IT professionals
·Strong consensus building skills
·Strong facilitation skills
·Advanced organizational skills
·Ability to effectively analyze and evaluate the merit of ideas, documents, presentation, and discussion
·Strong understanding of current issues and opportunities within the tech industry
·Strong networking Skills
·Strong public speaking skills
·Advanced writing and communication skills
·Willingness to travel
