International, Project Management/Program Development
POSITION SUMMARY The International Association of Chiefs of Police is enhancing the focus on the global policing environment through engagement, outreach, membership and service delivery. The Project Manager will work with the Director on operationalizing the global policing vision in alignment with the IACP’s goals and objectives while supporting the Global Policing Division and the International Vice President. There is a significant requirement for the manager to collaborate on various projects and support global activities at the IACP annual conference and other regional venues.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES •Advance the mission, vision and values of the IACP •Support the operations of the Global Policing Division (GPD) and the Global Policing Division Steering Committee (GPDSC) to achieve IACP goals and objectives •Coordinate and manage special projects, as required •Participate at international conferences and meetings and assist with global activities at IACP Annual Conference •Expand and increase global membership to strengthen and broaden IACP’s standing and presence around the world •Help advance training and leadership development opportunities within the IACP global community •Works collaboratively with IACP personnel on various global projects and events and assist staff members from other IACP staff •Coordinate and conduct outreach to law enforcement agencies and criminal justice partners to promote participation in projects and events, gather information, and identify promising practices •Facilitate meetings, trainings, group discussions, and other events attended by law enforcement, subject matter experts, and criminal justice partners •Aid in the organization of planning meetings consisting of staff, consultants, and law enforcement and community partners •In collaboration with communications team, create and support project outreach, marketing, and information dissemination including social media •Organize and track details of meetings and events including expenditures, logistics, and programmatic information using event, participant, and resource databases •Create required documents such as event requests and project reports •Maintain on-going and effective communication with partners, and external organizations •Coordinate and conduct educational presentations about the program and its resources: represent the program at events and before relevant groups •Under the direction of the Director, manage all programmatic, administrative and financial activities of assigned projects •Develop periodic progress reports for the IACP and the GPD •Perform other duties, as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS •Bachelor’s degree in subject-relevant field required. Master’s degree preferred. •Minimum of six years project management or related experience, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects. •Equivalent experience will be given consideration for comparable knowledge, skills and abilities acquired through experience resulting from the successful performance of previous identifiable program management level training positions.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS •Must be knowledgeable of and competent with standard computer systems, data bases, electronic communications and have demonstrated capacity to prepare excel spreadsheets, power point and word documents. •Requires initiative, interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with the public as well as with individuals at various levels, ability to work productively in a team-environment and provide follow-up in a timely manner. •Must possess excellent verbal, written and technical communication skills. •Experience with the delivery and design of law enforcement training programs is desirable. •Analytical skills and ability to think through and troubleshoot problems from multiple perspectives. •Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time.
WORKING CONDITIONS •Incumbent will work in a professional office environment. •Work performed will be primarily sedentary in nature. •Frequent travel will be required both domestically and internationally for meetings and conferences
