As the Executive Director of the Optometric Extension Program Foundation (OEPF) you will be embarking on a very special mission to help people throughout the world. OEPF supports the optometric field by providing education that emphasizes visual development and rehabilitation which treats specific types of vision problems otherwise not addressed.
Through the education and support offered by the OEPF, those with vision difficulties learn more effectively and efficiently, those with brain injuries recover improved function and quality of life, and those with difficulties with eye teaming such as lazy eye or crossed eyes are be made whole without the need for surgery or eye patching.
The Executive Director is the key management leader of OEPF and is essential to maintaining continuity and the strategic direction for the organization. The Executive Director is responsible for all aspects of the administration, programs, and strategic plan of the organization. The Executive Director works cooperatively with the President of the Board, Board of Directors, Committee Chairpersons, and a wide variety of volunteer members at-large. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, and organization outreach. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational abilities to include planning, program development and task facilitation. A strong knowledge of marketing, public relations and fundraising strategies unique to the nonprofit sector is required. The candidate must possess strong written and oral communication skills, be a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal skills to engage diverse volunteer and sponsor groups.
A bachelor’s degree or the equivalent
Transparent and high integrity leadership
Five years or more senior nonprofit management experience
Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting
Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
Ability to convey a vision of OEPF’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors
Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector
Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers
Strong written and oral communication skills
Skilled at creating and maintaining long distance relationships
Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups
Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff
Strong public speaking ability
Living in, or willing to relocate to, the Baltimore, MD area.
