DESCRIPTION: Manages continuous improvement of communications, visibility, and social media presence of Society journals. Implements reader engagement activities to promote author submissions and circulation. Oversees journal operations, and manages submission and production of selected manuscripts.
Works with editors and publishers and SCCM staff to develop and maintain annual communications plans for each journal. Plans include such things as robust social media program, videos, and podcasts.
Organize journal-related session at SCCM’s annual meeting
Manages reader engagement activities for all journals
Collaborates with editors, authors, and publisher to implement plans for developing and utilizing visual abstracts and infographics for select manuscripts
Assist the Director of Research in managing the relationship with the editors-in-chief, associate editors, and publisher.
Works with Marketing staff and the publisher to enhance advertising sales efforts
Assesses current journal operations and develops processes for improving workflow
Oversees manuscripts submitted for simultaneous publications
Oversees guidelines submissions for all SCCM journals
Bachelor’s degree in English or Communications
7-10 years experience in medical publishing ideal
Must have an interest and experience in medical publishing
Essential to be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Organized, motivated, self-starter, capable of working independently and on teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as proofing skills
Association or professional publishing experience preferred
