The Manager, Communications is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the organization’s strategic marketing (including social media) plans to ensure an accurate, consistent message in its marketing initiatives. Responsible for producing programs that support membership development, meetings and events, publications, public policy, products, and services.
Under the guidance of the Director, Communications & Marketing, plan, develop, and execute multichannel marketing initiatives that communicate the IFDA brand
Generate, edit, and publish daily to IFDA’s multiple social media platforms
Write effective copy for the website, social media, broadcast emails, and marketing material
Design and edit graphics for social media
Collaborate with IFDA staff to create and maintain the editorial calendar
Develop and foster strategic relationships with key external media partners
Develop and write creative, effective marketing pieces that communicate the quality and benefits of IFDA Membership, events, products, and services
Write articles for IFDA publications and website as needed
Draft and distribute press releases as needed
Work with relevant staff and leadership to measure, monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness of marketing programs in support of key priorities
Additional Responsibilities and Duties:
Assist the Director, Communications & Marketing to develop prepared remarks, speeches, presentations and other communications for IFDA staff and volunteer leadership
Manage and update database of external communications contacts
When needed, manage production of daily/weekly e-newsletters
Assist with IFDA events as needed
Assist with writing, editing and proofing of event materials
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Strong writing, editing and verbal communications skills
Ability to generate consensus and work effectively with staff at all levels
Willingness to execute day to day tasks and work independently
Ability to prioritize competing tasks and achieve objectives
Education and Experience Requirements:
3+ years of experience in communications, social media, marketing and/or other relevant experience
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or a related discipline
Excellent written communications skills for a variety of media (blog, website, social media, and media outlets)
Demonstrated use of various technologies including social media platforms, MS office, and content management systems
Superior proof-reading skills
Demonstrated experience using analytics to inform and improve campaign performance
Association experience desired, but not required
Ability to self-direct work and establish priorities
Excellent interpersonal skills
Minimal overnight travel (up to 15%) by land and/or air.
