The primary purpose of this position is to lead BIO’s effort in achieving its annual membership targets in terms of revenue, number of members, and customer satisfaction. To accomplish this goal, this individual shall develop and implement a comprehensive membership strategy to recruit new members, retain current members, and grow revenue opportunities for BIO.
In collaboration with Managing Director, help design, develop, and implement strategic membership recruitment/retention plans that align with BIO’s goals.
Manage the membership lifecycle from application, onboarding, positive member experience, and renewal process.
Manage annual dues planning process, including dues estimates, revenue projections, and corresponding member outreach.
Professionally represent and articulate BIO's mission to existing and/or prospective members through clear, consistent written and verbal communications.
Develop innovative marketing/communications campaigns and create corresponding content and materials to promote BIO and the membership value proposition in an appealing manner to existing and/or prospective members.
Develop metrics to analyze membership trends, including engagement and committee participation. Prepare monthly reports on engagement and develop an outreach plan for unengaged members.
Implement a system to gauge member needs and assess satisfaction. Analyze data and develop tools to monitor program success to determine direction for future program activities.
Collaborate with other BIO departments to enhance service to members and build a comprehensive value proposition.
Stay informed on industry and internal news/trends to develop membership strategies, synergies, and opportunities.
Undergraduate degree; MBA preferred or equivalent experience
Life sciences industry knowledge a plus
8+ years of experience in association management, especially in areas of membership, sales and marketing
Strategic thinker and self-starter that can develop 3-5 year membership plans
Outstanding interpersonal skills and positive attitude. Candidate needs to be a “team player” who knows the importance of creating a positive, working relationship with office colleagues, association members and external contacts
Excellent ability to prioritize and manage multiple time-sensitive initiatives in a fast-paced setting
Proven capability to lead, coach, and mentor staff members to achieve ambitious goals
Travel up to 20% as needed
