Position Summary: Serves as the alumni engagement staff for Lead Virginia, providing leadership and support for overall alumni engagement, involvement and advancement. This position is responsible for relationship building among alumni, to include continued cultivation for alumni financial support for the organization and its programs, as well as opportunities for alumni involvement. Responsibilities also include planning, developing, promoting, coordinating, implementing and evaluation of alumni engagement programs, projects, financial stewardship and events on behalf of Lead Virginia. The position will work collaboratively with Lead Virginia staff in all areas and will be responsible for recognition of alumni donors as well as ongoing stewardship.
•Provide active support and guidance to the alumni committee, coordinating closely with the alumni/social capital committee chairs within each region. •Provide annual fund and alumni stewardship support through active donor relations. •Work with Lead Virginia staff and alumni conference chairs in planning and executing the annual alumni conference. •Plan and execute regional alumni gatherings. •Help us tell the impact stories of our alumni: seek opportunities for Lead Virginia to promote and highlight alumni service in their respective communities and throughout the Commonwealth, and promote fellow alumni in Lead Virginia printed materials, through the website and social media. •Cultivate relationships with alumni and friends of Lead Virginia in an effort to increase connection, financial support and engagement between the organization, its graduates and supporters. •Travel with Lead Virginia staff to regional class sessions and alumni gatherings across Virginia. •Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors and other volunteers when called upon. •Work with the President to prepare an annual budget of revenue and expenses toward building annual fund growth and sustainability.
•Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience.
•Self-starter in effective relationship building leading to desired outcomes.
•Demonstrated ability to strategize, implement and build alumni constituency programs and activities among senior-level leaders across Virginia’s diverse communities and industry sectors.
•Demonstrated experience cultivating, managing and developing volunteers.
•Experience in the nonprofit arena, higher education or other leadership affiliated organization.
•Must have good communication skills and capability with current technology.
•Ability to travel overnight throughout the year to attend regional sessions April through November, as well as the annual alumni conference and other alumni gatherings.
•Must operate with the highest degree of integrity, be able to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, be able to function effectively and collegially as part of a small team of professional staff and volunteers, demonstrate organizational, time management and activity planning skills, and have experience monitoring and meeting deadlines.
