Working closely with Health Care Without Harm, Practice Greenhealth, is the leading nonprofit membership and network organization for sustainable health care, delivering environmental solutions to more than 1,300 members throughout the United States.
The Database Manager will be the primary organizational point of contact for the organization’s Association Management System (netForum). The Database Manager will be responsible for support and troubleshooting of issues related to day-to-day operations of the system, and will work with the AMS vendor to lead the development of future system extensions or integrations. Work with Program Directors and the Director of Program Analytics to run data imports, data extractions, oversee system configuration changes and plan staff training as needed.
The Database Manager will serve as an advocate for use of the AMS within the organization and, in the first year of the position, assist with the roll out of the AMS and associated business processes. The Database Manager will report to the IT Director and work closely with all stakeholders.
Management and oversight of design, development and system implementation of database systems across the organization, including add-on programs.
Serve as the primary administrator/internal expert of the AMS to include knowledge of data maintenance, event management, order processing, member updates, and reports.
Strategic planning and requirements analysis for all new functionality and reporting needs for all organizational databases across all departments.
Ensure database integrity by conducting routine audits of membership data.
Lead implementation and testing of new add-on modules to the AMS to meet changing needs, such as fundraising.
Work with various stakeholders and departments (such as Meetings, Education) to ensure that any data entry/imports is recorded accurately.
Work with/manage database vendors, consultants and deliverables.
Manage and coordinate database upgrades and maintenance with AMS vendors.
Work with IT Manager and participate in web projects that involve integrations that will maintain the integrity of the organizational databases, interfaces with IT Manager and web developers on where to store data to give desired results.
Manage and conduct end user support/training for database/reporting applications as required.
Create and write reports/custom queries for complex reporting needs.
Oversee database maintenance tasks - backups, jobs and scheduled stored procedures.
Troubleshoots database issues and assists with problems.
Design and manage data imports as needed.
Assist IT Director with budgets for database needs and tracks against financial reports.
Document procedures and workflow in the use of databases. Develops and documents new system procedures as appropriate.
Bachelor’s Degree required
Three or more years work experience in information technology field or working with a relational database, AMS and CMS. Experience with end-user support, data integrity and reporting preferred. netForum experience strongly preferred.
Experience in an association environment or not-for-profit environment preferred
Highly effective communication, project management, and interpersonal skills a must
Ability to convey technical information to non-technical users verbally and in writing
Good problem solver and facilitator
Ability to collaborate effectively across groups, and communicate with outside third party software vendors and business entities
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects at one time
Experience working with end users to develop requirements and propose solutions to meet user needs
Competency with basic accounting principles
Knowledge of relational database design, data modeling and reporting
Experience with non-profit AMS applications (netForum preferred) or other comparable enterprise level CRM systems
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and advanced knowledge of MS Excel
Proficiency with SQL
Experience with report writing tools (such as Crystal, Microsoft Reporting Services, Business Objects) preferred
Familiarity with mid-range accounting systems, such as Great Plains or Quickbooks, is a plus
Experience working with content management systems
Web development experience a plus
Willingness to learn new development technologies
