A national trade association is currently seeking a Chief Membership Officer who will be responsible for maintaining and growing the organization’s membership. He/she will set and drive the overall membership strategy directed at increasing and retaining members. The incumbent will also use available data, trends, and input from key stakeholders to recommend alternative membership models and also anticipate and plan for any obstacles. This person will also oversee and provide leadership to the department staff to ensure that annual membership goals are achieved. This position reports directly to the CEO.
Qualified candidates will have a proven track record of successfully developing and implementing membership strategies. Candidates should also have the ability to successfully promote programs, products, and services to members, preferably in a trade association environment. Excellent communications skills are essential.
A minimum of 10 years of experience at an executive level in a trade association is required. A bachelor’s degree, or comparable education and experience, is also required. A graduate degree is preferred.
