The American School Counselor Association is seeking a self-motivated bookkeeper and office administrator to assist in day-to-day operations. The position is an office-based position in Old Town Alexandria and provides support to employees who work remotely.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of bookkeeping experience, is comfortable working independently in an office setting, and enjoys working on a variety of projects. The bookkeeper part of the job will be responsible for handling the fundamental aspects of financial record keeping, including recording financial transactions, managing accounts payable and receivable, and budgets. The administrator side of the position will respond to phone and email inquiries, provide database and technology support, order supplies, coordinate office equipment needs and contracts and assist in projects as needed.
No supervision of staff is required.

Primary responsibilities include:
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
Prepare bank deposits and receipts of money
Assist in preparing budgets
Review, reconcile, and manage expenses
Coordinate with outside accountants to prepare monthly, and quarterly financial reports
Coordinate with outside CPA on audit preparation, tax preparation, 1099 etc.
Maintain organization’s insurance policies
Manage all contracts of the organization
Provide customer service
Daily tasks - mail, visitors and overall office functions
Assist staff with administrative tasks
Provide database and technology support
Utilize the Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Word, Excel and Outlook).
