Oversees the development, assessment, and implementation of NBCRNA testing programs. Provides leadership for the development and production of examination formats, test security, technology, and packaging, including electronic platforms. Provides leadership for accreditation applications and reports for the testing areas. Represents NBCRNA externally and promotes NBCRNA as a credentialing leader. The Senior Director of Testing and Research will collaborate with the CEO, Board and key stakeholders to align testing programs with strategic initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned.
Possess the ability to innovate and assume lead role as champion for the NBCRNA testing programs in driving the mission of the NBCRNA.
Provide oversight and leadership for the NBCRNA examination assessment programs to ensure psychometric quality and integrity and legal defensibility of NBCRNA examination programs.
Work collaboratively with the CEO-led senior leadership team to integrate cross-departmental activities and functions; Help implement and track progress of NBCRNA Strategic Plan.
Develop and manage functional operating plans, policies and budgets in accordance with the direction established in strategic plans, board policies and strategic initiatives through systems that improve overall operation and effectiveness.
Manage all phases of planning, organization, development and production of the examination formats.
Develop recommendations for improvements/enhancements to measurement capabilities of examinations.
Oversee and provide guidance to testing staff for item bank maintenance work and on technical and statistical aspects of test development.
Oversee vendor relationships to ensure acceptable outcomes.
Represent the NBCRNA at national conferences, through publications and presentations.
Serve as staff liaison to board and committees as needed.
Spearhead efforts to optimize security of testing programs. Serve as knowledge resource to Board members and external testing and credentialing organizations.

Advanced organizational skills to manage the respective aspects of the certification program and examination committee activities.
Quantitative background; familiarity with statistical and analytical methodologies commonly applied in test development.
Excellent coordination skills to direct examination development, implementation, and evaluation of the credentialing programs.
Advanced experience in communication, both verbal and written and interpersonal skills. Must communicate clearly with examination committee members, volunteers, vendors, members of the Board, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Presentation skills to share research. Ability to serve as a spokesperson to position NBCRNA as a leader in the field of credentialing.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues on team projects and/or ability to provide leadership in team projects.
Proficient with technology to manage software development and modifications. Able to contribute to major transitions to new software and platforms.
Education and/or Experience
Minimum of seven years full-time experience in planning and coordination of major projects for assessment programs, preferably in a medical or nursing association or other professional member-oriented environment.
Doctoral degree in educational psychology or measurement preferred, with some statistical/research experience, and computer-based testing research.
