Statewide membership association looking for Director to oversee annual trade show.
Responsibilities include selling booth space, management of third parties & volunteers, programming, show logistics and attendee marketing. This is a full-time position that also assists the association’s membership department during the “off-season” of the trade show. Advertising sales are also a minor part of this position’s responsibilities.
The association’s plan is to grow the number of exhibitors to 150 businesses and increase attendance to 7,000 attendees over the next three years. The Director will have significant input on how to accomplish these goals.
The ideal candidate will have trade show and/or conference planning and execution experience, be people oriented and have the ability to handle numerous logistics while being detail and deadline conscious. As a Director, this position will be required to make independent decisions, use creative problem solving and be self-motivated to work without waiting for direction.
The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:
Excellent project management and communication skills that include attention to detail.
Trade show and/or conference planning & execution experience is required. Previous experience in the foodservice & hospitality industry will be helpful along with Association Management experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products and database management. Weblink database experience is a plus.
Knowledge of, or ability to learn, basic website editing and formatting is crucial.
Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills are required.
Self-Motivator with the ability to work independently.
Ability to manage and motivate staff & volunteers to achieve desired results.
Ability to understand member issues and to assist members with their questions.
Ability to meet deadlines and follow through on tasks.
