The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) is recruiting for an experienced leader to serve as Controller, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.

The core functions of this position include but are not limited to the following:
SCOPE OF POSITION
The controller is responsible for the accounting operations of the organization, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the organization’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and international financial reporting standards.
Key responsibilities for this position will be:
managing accounting, budgeting and reporting services for an organization with over $22 million budget.
overseeing completion of the annual audit and necessary actions resulting from it.
overseeing of management and internal control of CASE’s assets.
liaising with internal and external users, constituents and vendors.
supporting the financial planning and analysis and business planning and analysis activities for CASE.
leading, mentoring and managing the accounting team.
Manages accounting systems including those in use by CASE Europe, CASE Asia-Pacific, CASE Latin America and the CASE Districts. This position is responsible for structural setup of reports, chart of accounts, account tracking and system validation.
Oversees accounts reconciliation, year-on-year comparability, receivables management and collections, payables management, treasury transaction tracking, banking relations, expense negotiation and control, processing corporate taxes, inventory tracking and control and fixed asset management.
Manages the budgeting process. Supervises and directs the maintenance of internal accounting records and provides reports that facilitate individual assessment of budgets and results. Provides financial reports that lead to the formulation of the CASE annual budget.
Provides accurate and timely accounting reports and analyses. Monitors business results to understand plan differences and recommend corrective action; includes periodic analyses of revenue and expense, balance sheet, and cash flow.
Interfaces with other CASE program managers in a team building and constructive manner to ensure effective and efficient accounting processes for staff and members.
Provides management of the accounting software and reporting systems and their interface (i.e., Acumatica, Concur, CPM, etc.). Also ensures interface with the association management software system. Includes process flow design, set-up, implementation, and process flow improvements. Also, includes account set-up and validation with the systems.
Oversees CASE’s payroll system, including all required reporting to local, state, and federal agencies.
Provides senior level finance and accounting leadership for the development, implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of international cloud-based accounting, enterprise resource planning, and association management systems with multiple currency transaction capabilities.
Oversees the preparation of annual foreign bank account reports, audited financial statements, and all tax returns for CASE including, CASE Consolidated, CASE Europe, CASE Asia-Pacific and the Districts.
Manages the financial planning and analysis and business planning and analysis Performs relevant financial analysis research. Recommends areas for operational and financial improvement. Provides support to all divisions on financial management of their areas of responsibility. Prepares reports and analysis for senior management as appropriate.
Fiscal Management/Budget Responsibilities/Judicious Use of Resources
Provides leadership in the formulation of the CASE annual budget.
Develops and gains approval for a budget for this position's area of responsibility and executes that budget.
Key point of contact with the District Treasurers and Regional offices.
Liaises with CASE colleagues in other parts of the world to ensure the best sharing of ideas, expertise and knowledge.
Coaches, mentors and directs staff members who report directly to this position and holds direct reports responsible for the manner in which they perform their work. Oversees hiring, training, ongoing communication, evaluations and goal setting.
Ensures that plans and programs are in place to advance CASE’s inclusivity goals. Demonstrates by example and communicates ways in which each CASE employee can enhance his or her awareness of the importance of inclusivity to the organization.
Performs Other Duties/ Responsibilities As Assigned By The Supervisor
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration plus eight or more years’ experience in managing a major accounting operation and supervising staff. Master’s degree in business administration or CPA experience is preferred.
