The BPS Psychometrician designs, organizes, implements, and documents development and validation activities to support intended interpretation and use of test scores. The psychometrician consults with senior leadership, internal staff, and external vendors about appropriate methods and communicates processes and results to stakeholders and the public.
The Primary Responsibilities are:
Design, organize, implement, and document validation activities related to BPS certification programs (e.g., job analysis, standard setting) using appropriate methods that are consistent with industry standards and best practice.
Interpret and clearly communicate the results of psychometric analyses to stakeholders.
Lead studies and workshops such as job analysis or standard setting panels.
Oversee the creation of test forms with Exam Developer to meet specialty content outlines, in collaboration with BPS Specialty Councils and senior staff.
Conduct equating of forms, via pre-or post-equating as appropriate to ensure fairness of examinations.
Perform item- and form-level analyses of examinations.
Conduct item reviews in collaboration with subject matter experts when items are flagged.
Support and provide guidance various BPS Specialty Councils and committees to ensure a professional and defensible certification program is followed, and that appropriate decisions impacting stakeholders are made.
Contribute to the processes to assure secure and well-run test administrations.
Work with external vendors to assure a valid and reliable scoring process is used.
Quality Assurance, Accreditation, and Leadership
Support accreditation activities by preparing technical reports and providing expert opinion as related to compliance to The National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) and ISO 17024 standards.
In consultation with the management team, board, specialty councils, and subject matter experts, contributes to the development and execution of the strategic goals regarding the BPS certification program.
Initiate and/or participate in relevant research activities to further BPS’ mission.
Represent BPS at pharmacy and certification industry conferences, tradeshows, and other stakeholder meetings.
Doctorate in Psychometrics, Educational Psychology, I/O Psychology, or closely related field.
Minimum of five years of applied experience with designing and conducting validation studies, working with clients, vendors, and/or stakeholder groups.
