Summary of Position:
The retail industry is changing, and with change and evolution come some great opportunities to research, benchmark, and identify trends and innovative change in the industry. This position will provide technical assistance with building internal and external programming solutions, and provide administrative support for the research and innovation departments. Assist SVP of Research, Innovation and Sustainability with key priorities and objectives. Assist Director of Research to accomplish department objectives. Seeking creatively-oriented, self-starter who can generate new ideas and support the building of custom dashboards and reporting.
Research & Innovation Support/Programming/Reporting (80%)
Develop statistical data models to identify industry trends and analyze retail benchmarking results.
Devise and evaluate methods and procedures (UI/UX) for interactive reporting dashboards
Respond to ad hoc internal and external client requests for data, graphs, etc.
Assist in the development and production of communication strategies to promote research and innovation content.
Handle internal database requests using RILA’s Salesforce database
Develop databases/methods to track/scrape relevant information for innovation and research departments
Monitor and study industry trends to identify topics relevant to membership.
Administrative Support (20%)
Organize both internal and out of house meetings, including catering and meeting
Occasionally serve as back-up receptionist in RILA office
Assist with internal and external meetings with duties that include compiling, producing and distributing meeting documents, confirming participation, supplying meeting information, tracking response on individual events, assisting with speaker management, assisting generally with meeting planning and other tasks as assigned.
Handle all database needs using FMI’s Maxx database. Examples are preparing lists
for survey distribution and marketing campaigns, keeping sponsorship information up
to date as well as maintaining list codes in the database. Assist in developing excel
spreadsheet to track and trend data.
Attend RILA events and perform duties as assigned.
Provide general support to the department as needed.

Education, Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree with course work in research, statistics, business administration, computer science. Ideally 1-2 years of relevant work experience
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Have strong problem solving skills with the ability to learn things quickly in a challenging environment and think outside the box
Experience in survey programming platforms (Qualtrics, SurveyGizmo, SurveyMonkey)
Experience in market research or working with data is a plus
Familiarity with data science, statistical analysis, analytics, or business intelligence
Web programming capabilities and familiarity with content management systems
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Excellent project management skills with attention to detail and time management.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks with attention to detail.
Strong customer service and team orientation.
Normal office environment requiring use of typical business equipment (e.g., computer, telephone, fax, copier, security system). Ability to travel to conventions and conferences.
